French Junior Champion (CHJ)

The Champion de France Jeune (CHJ) is the SCC's national junior champion title. It rewards a single top result in the Junior class: a 1st place with the Excellent qualification at either the Championnat de France SCC or a Nationale d'Élevage.

Earning the title

A dog qualifies by taking 1st place in the Junior class with an Excellent qualification. That result must be awarded at one of two events: the Championnat de France organised by the SCC, or a Nationale d'Élevage.

A single qualifying result is enough. The title recognises performance during the junior stage of a dog's show career and does not, on its own, open the Champion class at later shows.

Age at the show

The dog must be at least 9 months old and under 18 months on the day of the show. This mirrors the age range for the Junior class in which the qualifying result is earned.

Homologation requirements

Before the SCC confirms the title, the dog must carry a DNA identification recorded in the SCC database.

Dogs living in France also need to have passed confirmation. Depending on the breed and the year, the breed club may set additional conditions covering health, behaviour or working ability, and working breeds may face specific working requirements. Check with the breed club to confirm which of these apply to your dog.
