Earning the title
A dog needs three CACS-J to qualify. Each certificate must be won at a national CACS show held in France, and the dog must be entered in the junior class.
The three CACS-J have to be awarded by three different judges. Winning repeatedly under the same judge does not add up to the required total.
Age at the show
The dog must be at least 9 months old and under 18 months on the day of each qualifying show. A CACS-J won outside this window does not count towards the title.
What the title does and does not grant
This is a young-dog title. Holding it does not open access to the Champion class.
Additional prerequisites for homologation
For the SCC to homologate the title, the dog must have DNA identification recorded in the SCC database.
Dogs owned by French residents also need confirmation. Depending on the breed and the year, breed clubs may set further conditions covering health tests, behaviour tests, or working requirements for working breeds. Check the requirements of the relevant breed club before applying.
