Earning the title
The title is based on a single top result in the Veteran class. The dog must place first with the qualification Excellent in the Veteran class at either the Championnat de France SCC or a Nationale d'Élevage.
Only these two events count toward the CHV. A first place with Excellent at other shows does not qualify.
Minimum age
The dog must be at least 96 months old on the day of the show. This aligns the qualifying result with the age at which a dog competes in the Veteran class.
Additional prerequisites for homologation
Before the SCC confirms the title, the dog must have DNA identification recorded in the SCC database.
Dogs living in France must also be confirmed (confirmation). Depending on the breed and the year, the breed club may set further conditions covering health, behaviour or, for working breeds, working requirements. Check with your breed club to confirm which of these apply to you.
What the title does and does not grant
According to SCC documents, the CHV does not give access to the Champion class.
