Danish Hunting Champion
The Danish Hunting Champion title (DKJCH) is awarded by the Danish Kennel Club (DKK) to hunting breeds that prove themselves both in the field and in the show ring. It recognises working ability alongside conformation, so a dog needs results from both areas rather than show wins alone.
What's required?
- ✓ Deens Jachtkampioenschap (DKJCH). Vereisten staan in DKK Show Regulations 2026 per jachthondengroep. Meestal vereist: 1e prijzen op nationale veldwedstrijden + show-kwalificatie. Handmatig bevestigen via DKK. (manual check required)
Notes
- • Primair voor jachthondenrassen (groepen 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 — terriërs, dachshunds, scent hounds, pointing dogs, retrievers; groep 10 voor windhonden; groep 5 voor bepaalde oertypes).
Earning the DKJCH title
Qualifying for DKJCH normally combines two elements: first prizes at national field trials and a show qualification. The precise standard differs by hunting breed group and is set out in the DKK Show Regulations 2026, in the section covering each group.
Because the conditions vary from one group to another, the exact number and level of results should be confirmed directly with the DKK for the breed concerned. The regulations are the authoritative source for what counts and how it must be achieved.
Which breeds can compete for the title
DKJCH is aimed at hunting breeds. Eligible dogs come from FCI groups 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 10.
In practice this covers terriers, dachshunds, scent hounds, pointing dogs and retrievers, with group 10 for sighthounds and group 5 for certain primitive types used in hunting.
