German Champion (VDH)
The Deutscher Champion (VDH) is awarded by the VDH once a dog has collected five VDH-Anwartschaften (recorded on judging reports as CAC or CAC(VDH)) at shows in Germany. A CAC is only given to a dog placed Vorzüglich V1 in its class, so each award also confirms that result.
The five results must be spread across at least three different judges, and at least three of them must come from CACIB shows or national shows.
What's required?
- ✓ 5× VDH-Anwartschaft / CAC in Germany in de open klasse/tussenklasse/kampioensklasse/gebruikshondenklasse op CAC-show/CACIB-show/nationale show/rasspeciaal (VDH/DRC), waarvan minimaal 3 op CACIB-show/nationale show, under at least 3 different judges
Notes
Earning the five awards
A dog qualifies once it has five VDH-Anwartschaften from shows organised by the VDH or DRC in Germany. These count when won in the Open, Intermediate, Champion or Working class at a CAC show, CACIB show, national show or specialty show.
Two conditions shape how the five results may be combined. At least three different judges must have awarded them, so a single judge cannot carry a dog through the whole title. At least three of the five must also come from CACIB shows or national shows.
Minimum age
A dog must be at least 15 months old for a VDH-Anwartschaft to count towards this title.
When a Reserve-CAC counts
A VDH-Reserve-Anwartschaft (Reserve-CAC) becomes a full award when the dog placed ahead already holds the title, since it then passes down to the reserve dog.
Reserve results can also be upgraded on their own. Three Reserve-CACs won within the same group of shows are converted into one full VDH-Anwartschaft. CACIB shows and national shows form one group, and specialty shows form a separate group. The two groups do not combine, so two reserve results from CACIB or national shows plus one from a specialty show do not produce an upgrade.
Results that count double
At four named events, the Bundessieger show, the VDH-Europasieger show, the VDH Annual Trophy and the German Winner Show, a VDH-Anwartschaft counts double towards this title. At these same events a Reserve-CAC counts as a full award.
Frequently asked questions
Is a CAC the same as a VDH-Anwartschaft?
Yes. VDH-Anwartschaft is the official German term, and it appears on judging reports as CAC or CAC(VDH). Both refer to the same award and count towards the title.
Can one judge award all five results?
No. The five awards must come from at least three different judges.
Do specialty show results count towards the title?
Yes, a VDH-Anwartschaft from a specialty show counts. Keep in mind that at least three of your five results still have to come from CACIB shows or national shows.
